All animals need oxygen for cellular respiration. Plants need oxygen, too. Most organisms do, although for some bacteria and archaeans oxygen is toxic. Humans are mammals, and like all mammals they use lungs to get oxygen out of the air. Find out about how other animals get oxygen for cellular respiration. Again, remember that invertebrates such as worms, snails and insects are also animals. Write 2 interesting facts about the respiration system of your animal choice.

Hey Mrs. Rodriguez!
For your blog, I decicded to research the Parrott fish. They do have gills, but this is protected by a bone called the opercuulum. Some parott fih also exhale air instead of carbon dioxide.

Erik Rogers
I chose a fish for my animal. In fish the gills mediate the gas exchange. Gills help remove oxygen from the water. Water then flows over the gills in one direction while blood flows in the opposite direction through gill capillaries.
I chose a snail called the Apple Snail.
The ctenidium is the lung/ gill of the apple snail. It is attached to the roof of the right mantle cavity.
Althogh the gill alone does not provide enough oxygen all the time, the apple snails have developed a solution for this problem. The solution is a breathing tube formed by a fold in the left mantle cavity. This helps to get the right amount of oxygen needed.
There are also many other facts about the apple snails.
hey mrs. rodriguez
hippos are cool, here is some info about their breathing
1.orbits and nostrils help the hippopotamus' breathe
2.hippos can breathe in the water
i found this realy cool chart and put it here so you could see it because it is awesome
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Mammalia
Superorder: Cetartiodactyla
Order: Artiodactyla
Family: Hippopotamidae
Genus: Hippopotamus
Species: H. amphibius

Fish-
1.The heart only has two chambers, diffrent form our heart which has four.
2.The oxygen is used in the body and goes back to the heart so its like reusing.
I chose a fish to learn about. Instead of lungs, the have gills. The air from water passes into their blood by diffusion. As long as there's enough oxygen dissolved water, the little fishies will be good!
Snails are really gross but cool. Snails breathe through their skin. Snails also have thin skin permeable for water.
Dear Mrs. R.
i learned about snails. snails get oxygen for cellular resperation. snails use both lungs and gills to get oxygen. they adapt to tropical waters and the system will eventually dry up.

Hi Mrs. R,
Fish get oxygen from water not air. They use their gills to do this. Fish get the pure gas O2 not H20. This is because they get their oxygen from the water. It takes a lot of energy to extract oxygen from water so Fish are cold blooded and don't need as much oxygen.
Vanessa
fish get oxygen by there gills by absorbing oxygen from the water it takes in. The blood in the gills picks up oxygen just like how it dos in our lungs.
Dear Mrs Rodregues
The cats respitory system is an unique cooling system. seeing they don't have swet glans they pant.

hey Mrs R. im going to tell you facts on the elephants respiration system. Respiratory movements are solely dependent on chest musculature. As a result of this the elephant would find it difficult to breathe if any restraint or pressure is placed on the movement of the chest.

Hi, Mrs. Rodriguez! The earthworm has no respiratory organ. It both takes in oxygen and emits carbon dioxide directly through its skin. That's why the skin is always moist and slimy.
Oxygen is extracted from the water in the region of the gills. Sharks' gills are made up of cartilaginous arches supporting a series of gill rakers which are perpendicular to them.
i chose to look up buterflies.
1. they exchange air through little passage ways
2.insects, such as butterflies, breathe through a much simpler passive respiration process

Kailey Wilson
Frogs also have lungs to breathe. Even tadpoles come up to breathe. But they also get oxygen from their skin. They can also get oxygen from the water.
hi Mrs. R
#1 Elephants have no pleural cavity
#2 Elephant lungs attach directly to the walls of the chest cavity and to the diaphragm
The fish have only two chambers to there heart.
There gills give them oxygen.
This is about giraffes. Air is breathed into the lung from where oxygen is absorbed into the bloodstream used by the body where Carbon dioxide is produced as a result. Also, the carbon dioxide is returned to the lungs and exhaled along with water vapor and some other gases. Byeeeeeeeeee
The animal I chose is a hippo! Their lungs have a spongy texture and are typicaly the type of lung as for a human. Breathing is largely driven by the muscular diaphragm dividing the thorax from the abdominal making a dome towards the thorax.
Hey Mrs, Rodriguez!
I chose to research snails. Snails breathe through their skin! They also breathe through a opening in their right side called the pneumostome.

horses breathing problems are normally caused by inhaling dust, ammonia, pollen, or mold spores. when brushing you horse, if you do it inside it will not cause the animal to breathe heaver
Adult fish have a pair of gills. Each gill is covered by a boney lid. When the fish closes its mouth and opens the gill lid the water is forced out and over the respiratory surfaces of the gill filaments.

Snails-
Snails are really weird and slimy. Snails actually breathe through their skin! Snails skin is also so thin it is permeable for water! This is what I learned about the snail!
